So you and your date have set
a time for your first date together but, oh no, you can't think of what to do for your
first date! We have compiled a list of great first date ideas that range from completely
free to the more expensive and lavish. Whatever you choose it will take the stress out of
worrying about what to do and ending up doing nothing.

Free dates
There is nothing wrong with doing something on
your first date that costs nothing or next to nothing. Your date will appreciate the extra
thought all the same, here are some excellent free first dates;
Picnic by the lake - if you
don’t live near a lake then a park is just as romantic. This date is a really easy,
cheap way of getting to know your date better because the only means of entertainment is
conversation, so make sure you have a list of topics planned in your head. It is best to
keep things light on your first date so avoid subjects such as ex boyfriends and family
history instead talk about work, life ambitions and all the things you're both interested
in.
Countryside walk - this again is
a free first date and an excellent one at that. You can walk wherever you wish and like
the picnic you can talk about whatever you like and if you get hungry why not offer to buy
her/him lunch as a surprise.
The beach - if the weather
permits (and you live near the coast!) why not go to the beach. You can sunbathe, chat,
frolic in the sea, walk hand in hand in the surf and if you're lucky you might to get to
rub sun cream on each other. At the very worst you get to see a bit more of each other, so
to speak.
Go shopping - I don’t mean
go shopping and spend your savings on things you don’t need, instead walk round the
shops and look in the windows. Window shopping is and excellent date as you can chat about
subjects such as fashion and money which you might not necessarily get to talk about if
you went to somewhere like the movies. It's also the perfect chance to get ideas for gifts
in the future if the relationship develops.
Go to a concert - why not indulge in a bit of music? Take her to see a free concert in a park or other venue. It's free, it gives you the chance to
talk about each other's musical interests and talents and also means you're not constantly
having to think of conversation topics.

Here are some great ides of fun and
interesting things to do on your first date that won't leave your bank manager pulling his
hair out;
- Go to a movie
- everyone likes
the movies and this is an extremely popular first date choice. Although it doesn’t
allow much time for actual conversation it will give you something to talk about later on
and is a good way to spend time together. Be careful though, if you have made yourself out
to be a daredevil then suggesting the movies may not be the best idea.
Take them to lunch - lunch is a
great way to get to know someone and you’ll earn extra brownie points if you insist
on paying. During lunch you get time to talk and you can get to know each other's eating
habits and a bit more about what he/she does with their day.
Go to an exhibit - take your date
to the local museum or art gallery and view an exhibit together, saunter through the halls
and talk about art and all the creative things you want to know about each other. Museum
exhibitions are affordable and make your first date an interesting and intellectual one.
Watch sports - sporting activity
dates are great fun and depending on what you do may involve some physical contact. You
could take her to watch a college football match or why not play some sports, there are
plenty to chose from and all are fun. Tennis and badminton are good ones but if you
don’t want to get all sweaty then why not try mini golf as it's fun and low cost.
When deciding what to do on your
first date make use of the facilities around you. For example why not take her to the
zoo most women love animals and walking round the zoo talking is a great way to get to
know each other. Zoos are relatively low priced, so all the better.
Go dancing - take them to a dance
hall and show them your moves on the dance floor. You can have a few drinks and enjoy each
other’s company. There are various different sorts of dancing you can go to including
ballroom, line or swing dancing or stay modern and go to a trendy night club.
Jazz club - jazz clubs are
excellent dating venues as they offer everything you could want from a romantic evening -
good music, food, drinks and your partner's company. Jazz clubs are fairly reasonably
priced so you don’t have to worry about spending loads.

If you don’t mind spending that little extra on your date then look in this section

Go out for dinner - dinner is
possibly the most popular date and more than likely the most successful, chose a
restaurant together and then spend the rest of the evening staring across a candlelit
table into each others eyes.
Amusements park - why not take
your date to an amusement park and spend the day on the rides, eating cotton candy.
It’s a relatively simple concept but will guarantee fun for the day and plenty of
laughs which is going to help when asking for another date.
Go to the Theatre - take your
date somewhere special and it doesn’t matter how much it costs because you want to
see her again. The theatre is a great place to go if you feel yourself as quite an
intelligent and creative person. If your date likes it then you’ll have something to
talk about afterwards.
Weekend away - this date is a
sure fire hit. Take her to a health spa for the weekend and let her be pampered to her
hearts content and to your credit cards expense, or why not try a country cottage where
you can go for long uninterrupted walks and have dinner by the log fire. You can suggest
separate rooms if you don't immediately get an enthusiastic response.
Hot air balloon ride - take your
date high, high into the sky with this great date idea. She/he’ll be so surprised to
find you’ve booked this and you can both enjoy the thrills of being so high as well
as the brilliant views. Just make sure they're not petrified of heights first.
